If your knee-jerk reaction upon hearing someone exclaim, “Black Lives Matter” is to counter with, “Actually, All Lives Matter,” you’re missing the point.
Yes, Jesus tells us to love all people. But on Tuesday of Holy Week, Jesus also stated that he’ll one day evaluate our claims of loving all people by looking at how well we love a specific subgroup of people: namely, those the world deems least.
You say all lives matter. Then prove it by standing in solidarity with those who are constantly told their lives matter least in this world: namely, our black brothers and sisters. To put it bluntly, if you can’t say, “Black Lives Matter,” then I seriously doubt all lives matter to you.
